The major benefit of waxing is smooth skin for 3-6 weeks.  Also, the idea of not shaving during your honeymoon is as pleasant as the smooth skin.  After your first treatment with Epilfree,  your hair will start to permanently be reducted.  is Below you will find some answers to common questions asked at Skin Rx LLC.

What is your wax of choice?

My wax of choice is soft wax with the strip.  It surely is the most painful method, but it is the wax that will pull the hair by the root, providing the client with hairless skin for 3-6 weeks.  I use Lycon wax withnatural resin and bees wax.

Does waxing hurt?

Yes.  However, the thought of it hurts more than the actual procedure.  Does it hurt less the more you do it… Yes, because the hair becomes less coarse and fewer in numbers. But over time it becomes a more tolerable procedure and most people become accustomed. Returning customers usually pay less attention to any discomfort and more on the results.  the Epilfree applicationof permanent hair reduction does not hurt.

How soon before the wedding would you get waxed?
All waxing should be done two days before the big day, unless you have been waxing for years. There is a possible temporary swelling of the skin, which is sensitive to pressure like touching and lowering your arms.  If you have never waxed before, I recommend that you have at least one wax session prior to the wedding day appointment.  These preparatory appointments will allow the professional get to know your hair and skin and to better prepare to prevent any sensitivities. It will also allow the hair to grow out evenly, thus assuring it can all be removed.

Do grooms get waxed too?
Yes, and the points discussed in this article are valid for men as well.  The most popular areas for men to wax are the chest and back.

What can I do to prevent ingrown hair and bumps?
If you are waxing for the first time, I suggest applying a Cortisone after your initial session and 2 to 3 days to follow. This decreases the chance of getting red pumps or small pimples.  To prevent and treat ingrown hair, my product of choice is Tend Skin, which I retail at Skin Rx LLC.  The Epilfree treatment prevents and also treats ingrown hair.

What is the proper way to prep your skin for a wax?

  1. Allow your hair to grow at least 1/4 inch in length. If it’s too short, the wax may not effectively attach to the hair follicle.
  1. Moisturize your skin properly until the day before the wax to keep the area hydrated.
  2. On the day of the waxing, skin must be washed with water and soap one hour before Epilfree treatment.  Do not apply any moisturizer, toners, deodorant or oils to the area to be waxed.  Stop using any Retin-A (Vitamin A), Alpha-Hydroxy Acid, Glycolic Acid products on the area to be waxed, 7 days before your appointment.
  3. Stop tanning 2 days before your appointment.
  4. If you have Herpes Virus take an antiviral medication 7 days prior.
  5. If you have MRSA, talk to your PCP about medication. Do know that an over stimulation to the skin can cause an outbreak..
  6. Wear loose fitting clothe, specially and if you are getting a bikini wax, wear loose fitting underwear as well.

How long before hair grows back and you need another wax?
Every person’s hair grows at different rates, differently for each body part, and if you shave or use any other dilatory methods, this will also influence the hair growth. Typically, my customers come back to wax every four to six weeks.   Exclusively, waxing will result in less re-growth over time.

What should I do in preparation for any face waxing appointment?

  1. Stop tweezing if you do.
  2. Stop using any scrubs 2 days prior.
  3. Stop using any Retin-A (Vitamin A), Alpha-Hydroxy Acid, Glycolic Acid products on the area to be waxed, 7 days before your appointment.
  4. If you are taking Accutane or doing any acne treatment, consult with your skin care and waxing specialist about the proper preparation.
  5. If you have Herpes Virus, take an antiviral medication 7 days prior. An overstimulation to the skin can cause an outbreak if you are not taking the antiviral medication.

When should I NOT get waxed?

  1. If you have a sunburn or broken skin.
  2. If you are using any medicated cream with therapeutic purpose for skin area or systemic medication for a skin illness.
  3. A scar that is healing, usually it is pinkish in color and smooth in texture.

What is the difference between bikini line, Brazilian bikini, and full bikini wax? Which style is the most popular right now?
A bikini line wax removes hair from your panty line. If you like a full area of hair contained to the boundaries of the panty area, this is the waxing style for you. A Brazilian bikini wax is a waxing style that removes all hair from the front to the back.  Hair is removed from the bikini line, labia and anus.  The hair that remains is on the pubic bone area.   The full bikini removes all hair as mentioned above plus the entire area of the pubic bone, leaving you all bare. There isn’t any particular style more popular than the other; it is all a personal choice.

Should you trim before getting a bikini or Brazilian wax?
When preparing for waxing, the optimal length for the hair should be 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch; anything shorter than that will make waxing difficult. I would prefer that the clients do not trim, in order to avoid the risk of trimming too short. If the hair is too long, I will trim it for them.

Can I get a bikini or Brazilian wax if I have my period?
Yes, just wear a tampon (Tampax).

Is it awkward or embarrassing to get a bikini wax?
If it is to anyone, it is only to you.  This is the professional’s job, and it is treated professionally, respectfully and precisely.  You will need to open your legs and expose your skin, or else the professional cannot do the job, just like going to your dentist.

When selecting a waxing center, what questions should you ask to ensure you are getting waxed in a clean, safe environment?
A waxing center or salon should always be kept clean, and proper sanitizing procedures should be followed. Experience, after cleanliness, to me is the most important. Choose someone with plenty of experience to avoid novice mistakes. Things such as wax type, post-wax procedures, and so forth are also great questions to ask when deciding on a place, but the professional always chooses the materials that give the best results.  At Skin Rx LLC, I use a new wax stick after each dip into the wax pot.  After your service, the leftover wax is thrown in the trash, and the machines and instrumentations thoroughly cleaned and disinfected ready for the next customer service.  I inspect the waxing job at the end with a magnifying lens and if there is any stray hair, I remove them with the tweezers.

Any other tips for?
Once the service is done, look at the area to make sure that it is to your satisfaction. If there are any stray hairs, now would be the time to let the professional know.

If you have redness or sensitivity apply ice.

If the reaction or sensitivity persists for the next days, call your professional.

The experience that you friends have are not the same that you will have.

Wear old and loose underwear when you go get your bikini wax.  DO NOT wear jeans pants.
