Adult Acne

In this bog I am presenting the two possible causes for adult acne. The most common form of acne in adult women is hormone inbalance.  Breakouts and cysts most often appears around the mouth, jawline, and chin. It is typically cystic and quite painful to touch and gets worse before and during ovulation and menstruation. This type of acne often goes hand in hand with terrible PMS symptoms and irregular periods.

Another problem is that if your immune system is debilitated, 1 week before your period your body is the most susceptible to infections, and the acne can be a form of bacterial infection.

All of the following methods are to maintain healthy hormones level, detoxify and build a strong liver, build a healthy gut, and improve your immune system.

  1. WHAT CAUSES FEMALE HORMONAL ACNE?

Female hormonal acne is caused by estrogen dominance. This creates an imbalance between estrogen and progesterone due to frequent contact with environmental or dietary xeno/phyto estrogens like plastic and soy products. This is most often where the imbalance begins.

Other factors that can disrupt hormones include:

  • Eating a diet high in processed foods
  • Consuming too much sugar
  • Taking the pill/using other forms of oral contraception (this can also include shots, implants, rings, IUD, and the morning after pill)
  • Chronic stress
  • Poor sleep
  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Over-exercising
  • Not eating enough calories
  • Substance1 abuse
  • Using toxic beauty care products that inhibit hormone communication
  • An overburdened liver
  • Thyroid problems
  • Insulin resistance
  • Streess
  • And many more!

STEP 1

Balanced Hormones

Scientists have long known that cruciferous vegetables help maintain healthy hormone levels and promote healthy DNA.

Food: Leafy Cruciferous Vegetables

Kale, cabbage and collard greens are usually easy on the budget and easy to cook. They can be added to stews or soups or lightly sauteed. Try them in pastas or casseroles. You can make them more appealing with herbs, salt and pepper. Steam them for an easy side dish or boost the nutrition of your main dish by adding them chopped during the cooking process.

Special Occasion Cruciferous Vegetables

Bok choy, Chinese cabbage, watercress and arugula may not be used as commonly, but they are also considered cruciferous vegetables. Watercress and arugula can be used in salads. Bok choy and Chinese cabbage can be lightly sauteed in olive oil with a little garlic or can be put in a tasty stir-fry. They can also be used in soups and salads.

Cruciferous Root Vegetables

Some root vegetables are also cruciferous. They include radishes, turnips and parsnips. These vegetables are stronger in taste and can be mixed in a stir-fry with other vegetables or lightly steamed. They make a great side dish or a late addition to soups.

Benefits at a Glance

  • Offers advanced cellular protection
  • Promotes healthy DNA
  • Helps maintain healthy hormone levels
  • Indole-3-carbinoland DIM benefit liver health and estrogen metabolism

Maintaining optimal hormone balance is essential to any comprehensive whole-body health strategy. Triple Action Cruciferous Vegetable Extract combines vegetable extracts into a powerful formula to help maintain healthy hormone levels.1-11

I3C (Indole-3-carbinol) and DIM (di-indolyl-methane) favorably modulate estrogen metabolism and induce liver detoxification enzymes to help neutralize potentially harmful estrogen metabolites and xenoestrogens (estrogen-like environmental chemicals).12-16

Extracts of broccoli, watercress, and rosemary provide glucosinolates, isothiocyanates, carnosic acid, and carnosol — bioactive compounds that have a multitude of favorable effects on estrogen metabolism and cell division.17-20Apigenin, a powerful plant flavonoid, is also added to the formula to boost cell protection,21 while cabbage extract, a natural source of benzyl isothiocyanate (BITC), is included to maintain cell health.8,22

Diindolymethane, or DIM, is a great supplement that aids the liver in dealing with bad/excess estrogens. It will help you detox the bad estrogens to make room for the good estrogen.

You can also start eating one raw carrot a day to help eliminate excess estrogen in your body. It contains a special fiber that attaches itself to excess estrogen where it is then harmlessly eliminated from the body through your stool. it’s a super non-invasive way to help balance estrogen dominance.

Another non-invasive method for hormone balance I want to mention is Seed Cycling. This is where you eat two different seeds for each phase of your cycle in order to encourage balance. It’s worked wonders for tons of women and is a safe method to try out.

Essential oils. This method has been used since history was recorded.  It was the first medicine and nutrition. Please note that these oil are active and can be a contraindications when over applied or  used along side medication.

ClaryCalm – Women’s monthly blend.

Topical use: Apply topically to the back of the neck, on temples, and bottoms of feet. Dilute with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.

Clary Sage – fill a vegetable capsule with oil and take one per day or apply once per day on abdomen or bottom of feet.

Geranium – massage on abdomen or a drop under tongue or in water. To balance oily skin or dry, apply directly to skin.  As a moisturizer, add it to carrier oil and apply to skin.

Step 2

Liver Detox and Support.  There are many methods for this, choose one of your preference.  I recommend Gaia Herbs.  They have 2 products: Liver health and Liver Cleanse.

You can also eat more of certain foods to help support a healthy liver. These include:

  • Organic green tea
  • Beets
  • Garlic
  • Grapefruit
  • Dark leafy greens
  • Apples
  • Cruciferous vegetables
  • Lemons and limes
  • Turmeric
  • Ginger
  • Carrots

Another method to include in your routine is a relaxing yet detoxifying bath at least once a week. Do this while drinking a huge glass of lemon water to help eliminate toxins.

DoTerra has a Cleanse and Support Kit that will cleanse and support the gut and liver.

  1. WHAT CAUSES BACTERIAL ADULT ACNE?

Adult Acne and Streptococcus pyogenes.  This is the bacteria mostly known as strep, like a strep throat.  Many cases a strep infection in the body will distribute bacteria to the face along the jaw line and cheeks.

Step 1

Triple Antibiotic . Apply Triple Antibiotic to the cysts on the skin and inside of your nostrils with a q-tip for 11 consective days.

Step 2

Liver Detox and Healthy Gut Suport  In addition a liver detox and a healthy gut to outnumber the bad bacteria with a good bacteria.  This can be accomplished with this product RESTORE.  This colorless and tasteless liquid soil-derived supplement that promotes an optimal gut environment. It is not a probiotic. It is not a prebiotic. Rather, it is a carbon-rich, alkaline liquid, to create a healthy gut.  A healthy gut has many benefits including a better immune system.

Step 3

Natural Antibiotic – The strep bacteria lives in your system, and they manifest when their numbers go beyond a threshold.  That is why usually you will experience a breakout before your period because the body is most weak.  A natural antibiotic can go after the strep bacteria without harming an already weaken immune system.

On Guard – Is one of doTERRA’s most popular oils, it is a powerful proprietary blend that supports healthy immune function* and contains cleansing properties.

Cinnamon – a scientific study showed the positive effect of cinamon essential oil as an antibiotic against Streptococcus pyogenes (strep)
