What is Yellow Peel?

Yellow Peel is the latest, and weaker chemical peeling, which can promote the elimination of the epiderm at different depths, and it can also be tailored to the type of lesion. This peeling uses the exfoliant action of the Retinoic Acid (in high concentrations) together with the action of three substances, which block the synthesis of Melanin (Phytic Acid, Kojic Acid and Azelaic Acid). This peeling is easy to apply, and when repeated, can provide the same benefits as the more aggressive peelings.

Yellow Peel Process at SkinRx

The treatment will start with the Check-Up Peel, a 20% glycolic wash, which will cleanse the skin of make up, sunblock and the oils that functions as skin’s barrier.  This step is important for its ability to check if the skin is too sensitive to receive a peel.  I will choose whether or not to proceed with the treatment, based on the diagnose from the Check-Up Peel (or other factors related to the client).  Following is a superficial peeling using the ABC peel or 30% Glycolic Peel.  The acid gel is applied with a brush and the objective of which is to prepare the stratum corneum for a perfect and uniform penetration of the Yellow Peel.  The gel will remain in the skin from 30 seconds to 2 minutes.  The gel is neutralized and removed with room temperature water.  The Yellow Peel is applied in a thin and continuous layer all over the face, or only in the area that needs treating.  After 30 minutes, the cream is replaced by another layer.  This repetition is continued until the desired depth of peeling is acquired.  The treatment takes from 1 to 2 hours.

A thick layer of SkinRenu Post Peel Recovery formula is applied to start the healing process.  After the treatment there will be redness, swelling, irritation and minor exfoliation of the skin.

Yellow Peel Follow-Up Care

The skin will feel warm, dry and look red for 4 to 7 days as it heals.  The use of SkinRenu Post Peel Recovery Formula is imperative for the next 4 to 7 days.  After the skin looses the epidermal layer the skin must be kept moisturized during the healing process.  The SkinRenu Post Peel Recovery Formula will supply the skin with essential lipids to promote healing and ease discomfort.  All skin care products must be suspended from use, and only the SkinRenu Post Peel Recovery Formula can be used.  SkinRenu Post Peel Recovery Formula must be applied various time during the day, until the skin looses the epidermal layer (4 to 7 days). At the end of this period, other skin care products may be used.

Sunblock and foundation may not be used during the healing process.  Sun exposure and smoking after a chemical peel must be avoided because they can cause unwanted side effects, including infection and scarring.  Do not expose skin to heat like saunas, hot tubs, hair blow dryers and steam.  Do not expose skin to other chemical treatments like hair coloring, hair keratine straightening treatments or hair perms for 7 days.  All recommendations by your Esthetician needs to be followed during the healing process.

If you are pregnant you may not receive a Yellow Peel.

No other skin care treatment can be performed on the skin for 30 days including facials and Yellow Peel.

What can you do after the Chemical Peels and Yellow Peel.

  • You may exercise, but not outdoors where there is sun exposure danger
  • You may use lipstick and eye make up, but not foundation nor powder
  • Wear a hat as sun protection
  • Call your Esthetician if there is any concerns or questions
